TEXAS — An 81-year-old woman who was reported missing at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area was found dead Wednesday morning, according to Texas wildlife officials.
Authorities said the woman was found around 9:30 a.m. and was pronounced dead by a justice of the peace. Her identity has not been released.
According to Texas Parks and Wildlife officials, the woman became lost Tuesday afternoon while hiking on the Loop Trail at Enchanted Rock.
Search and rescue crews from several counties responded to help locate her, but officials said storms in the area forced crews to pause search efforts multiple times.
“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” officials said in a news release.
Texas State Park Police are leading the investigation into the incident.
