MICHIGAN — An Oakland County man received the surprise of a lifetime when he logged into his Michigan Lottery account to play Daily Spin to Win and discovered he had won a $358,122 Fantasy 5 jackpot.
The 66-year-old winner, who chose to remain anonymous, matched all five numbers drawn in the June 3 Fantasy 5 drawing — 05-10-21-34-37. He purchased the winning ticket online through MichiganLottery.com.
“Every now and then I will play Fantasy 5 online, so I’m familiar with the emails that come through when you win a few bucks,” said the player. “I saw an email about a prize and just assumed I’d won a few dollars again.
“Later that day when I logged on to my account to do my Daily Spin to Win, I couldn’t believe it when a pop-up came up saying I won $358,122. It was amazing!”
The winner recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. He said he plans to use the money to pay bills, buy a new car and share some of his winnings with his children.
Fantasy 5 tickets cost $1 per play. Players can also add EZmatch for an additional $1 per play for a chance to win up to $500 instantly or Double Play for another $1 per play for a second chance to win up to $110,000 in the nightly Double Play drawing.
Fantasy 5 players choose five numbers from one to 39, and jackpots start at $100,000. Drawings are held every day at 7:29 p.m., and tickets may be purchased at Michigan Lottery retailers or online until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
