
OKLAHOMA — A Kansas man is facing multiple felony charges after a traffic stop in Ponca City led to the discovery of a firearm and several types of illegal drugs, according to police.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon when an officer with the Ponca City Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Palm.
Investigators said the driver, identified as 33-year-old Zachary Bevilacqua of Kansas, got out of the vehicle and began walking away after being stopped. Authorities said the officer attempted to stop him, and Bevilacqua allegedly began fighting with the officer and a trooper who arrived to assist.
During a search of the vehicle, investigators reported finding a loaded handgun along with fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone and marijuana.
Bevilacqua was arrested on complaints of aggravated trafficking of a controlled dangerous substance, trafficking of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm, possession of drug proceeds, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing an officer, resisting arrest, and threatening or intimidating a law enforcement officer.
He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
