FLORIDA — Detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or people who left a human skull at a local thrift store.
According to investigators, the skull was discovered among donated items at the Jericho Ministries Thrift Store on Wiscon Road in Brooksville.
Authorities said the items were dropped off at the store between approximately 11 a.m. and noon on May 16. Investigators initially believed the skull may have been intended as a novelty item, but later determined it was an actual human skull.
Detectives are now attempting to identify and speak with the individuals who left the donation.
Officials have not released information regarding the identity, age or gender of the person the skull belonged to. Investigators also have not disclosed whether any other unusual items were donated along with the skull.
The circumstances surrounding how the skull was obtained and how the person died remain under investigation.
