OHIO — A Willard man is celebrating a $100,000 Ohio Lottery win after recovering a scratch-off ticket he accidentally threw away.

According to the Ohio Lottery, the man purchased a winning Bingo Times 25 scratch-off ticket but mistakenly discarded it. After realizing what had happened, he searched through a dumpster to retrieve the ticket.

The effort paid off. The ticket turned out to be worth $100,000.

After mandatory state and federal tax withholdings totaling 26.75%, the winner will receive approximately $73,250.

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K #5706, located at 418 Walton St. in Willard.

Bingo Times 25 is a $5 Ohio Lottery scratch-off game that offers top prizes of $100,000. As of June 5, seven top prizes remained available statewide.

Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to education programs across the state.
