Human remains found in wooded area in Pennsylvania, investigation underway

PENNSYLVANIA — Authorities are investigating after human remains were discovered in a wooded area in York County Thursday morning, according to police.

The Hanover Borough Police Department said officers responded around 7:23 a.m. on April 16 to the 400 block of East Middle Street for a report of found remains.

During the initial investigation, officers located human remains in a nearby wooded area. Police said the remains were in a state of decomposition.

Multiple agencies are assisting with the investigation, including the York County Coroner’s Office, the York County District Attorney’s Office, county detectives, the York County Forensic Investigative Unit, Penn Township Police Department, Northern York County Regional Police Department and York County Regional Police Department.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
