GEORGIA — Thirty people have been arrested in connection with a drug trafficking investigation spanning Monroe and Butts counties, according to authorities.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the arrests are the result of a joint investigation conducted with the Butts County Sheriff’s Office that began in February 2026. The investigation targeted individuals suspected of distributing illegal narcotics in north Monroe County and south Butts County.

During the investigation, deputies seized multiple pounds of illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl and marijuana. Authorities also obtained arrest warrants for more than 40 individuals.

As of April 16, 30 people have been taken into custody, and officials say additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues.

According to the sheriff’s office, those arrested are facing charges related to trafficking illegal narcotics under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations, or RICO, Act.

The investigation remains ongoing.
