
FLORIDA — More than 2,000 homes and businesses are currently without electricity across Florida as utility crews work to restore service in several parts of the state.
According to PowerOutage.us, 2,078 customers are without power statewide as of Friday morning. The outages affect approximately 0.02% of the nearly 11.8 million customers tracked across Florida.
Polk County is reporting the largest number of outages, with 1,261 customers currently without electricity. Miami-Dade County has 200 outages, followed by Lee County with 84, Seminole County with 70, Palm Beach County with 69 and Orange County with 66. Additional outages are also being reported in Hillsborough and Sarasota counties.
Duke Energy is reporting the largest utility-related outage, with 1,410 customers without service. Florida Power & Light Company reports 567 outages, while Tampa Electric reports 60 customers without power. Several smaller utilities are also reporting scattered outages.
Polk County is currently the hardest-hit county in the state, with approximately 0.32% of tracked customers without electricity.
Florida ranks eighth in the nation for the total number of power outages, according to PowerOutage.us. Utility crews continue restoration efforts, and outage numbers remain current and subject to change as repairs are completed and additional outages are reported.
