
MICHIGAN — More than 2,000 homes and businesses are currently without electricity across Michigan as utility crews continue working to restore service in several parts of the state.
According to PowerOutage.us, 2,181 customers are without power statewide as of Friday morning. The outages affect approximately 0.04% of the more than 5.07 million customers tracked across Michigan.
Huron County is reporting the largest number of outages, with 1,290 customers currently without power. Wayne County follows with 388 outages, while Kent County has 87. Additional outages are being reported in Marquette County, Jackson County, Baraga County, Calhoun County and Oakland County.
DTE Energy is reporting the largest utility-related outage, with 1,742 customers without service. Consumers Energy reports 270 outages, while Ontonagon County REA has 66 customers without power. Upper Peninsula Power Company and Great Lakes Energy are also reporting outages.
Huron County is currently the hardest-hit county in the state, with approximately 5.78% of tracked customers without electricity.
Michigan ranks seventh in the nation for the total number of power outages and 12th nationwide for the percentage of customers affected, according to PowerOutage.us.
Utility crews continue restoration efforts across affected areas. Outage numbers are current as of Friday morning and may change throughout the day as repairs are completed and additional outages are reported.
