Thousands without power in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — More than 3,300 homes and businesses across North Carolina are without electricity Monday morning, according to statewide outage tracking data.

PowerOutage.us reported 3,304 customers without power statewide out of nearly 5.9 million tracked customers.

Forsyth County reported the highest number of outages in the state Monday morning with 1,160 customers affected. Guilford County followed with 1,095 outages, while Randolph County reported 401 customers without electricity. Catawba and Richmond counties each listed 106 outages.

Duke Energy reported the largest number of outages among utility providers with 3,049 customers without power. Pee Dee Electric reported 106 outages, while Rutherford EMC and Wake Electric each listed 36 customers without electricity.

According to the outage tracking website, North Carolina currently ranks 12th in the nation for the total number of outages and 14th nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

Forsyth County was listed as the hardest-hit county in the state Monday morning, with nearly 0.6% of tracked customers without electricity.

Residents are encouraged to report outages directly to their utility providers and avoid downed power lines.
