Thousands without power in Alabama

ALABAMA — More than 3,600 homes and businesses across Alabama are without electricity Monday morning, according to statewide outage tracking data.

PowerOutage.us reported 3,670 customers without power statewide out of more than 2.61 million tracked customers.

Mobile County reported the highest number of outages in the state Monday morning with 3,017 customers affected. Marion County had 138 outages, while Escambia County reported 137 customers without electricity. Chambers County listed 106 outages, and Walker County reported 47.

Alabama Power reported the largest number of outages among utility providers with 3,482 customers without electricity. Diverse Power reported 106 outages, while Huntsville Utilities listed 31 customers without power.

According to the outage tracking website, Alabama currently ranks ninth in the nation for the total number of outages and 10th nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

Mobile County was listed as the hardest-hit county in the state Monday morning, with about 1.4% of tracked customers without electricity. Diverse Power reported the highest percentage of customers affected among utility providers at more than 15%.

Residents are encouraged to report outages directly to their utility providers and stay away from downed power lines.
