INDIANA — More than 130 people were arrested and dozens of firearms were seized during a multi-day operation targeting violent offenders, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Police said 133 individuals were taken into custody as part of “Operation Guardian,” a coordinated effort involving multiple local, state and federal agencies aimed at apprehending wanted suspects and reducing violent crime.
During the operation, authorities recovered significant evidence, including 35 guns and two machine gun conversion devices. Investigators also seized approximately 250 grams of fentanyl, 350 grams of cocaine, 118 pills and more than $41,000 in cash believed to be tied to criminal activity.
Officials said those arrested face a range of charges, including murder, drug offenses and weapons violations.
IMPD Chief Tanya Terry said the results highlight the department’s ongoing commitment to public safety.
The operation included collaboration with several agencies, including the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Police said similar operations are expected to continue, with plans to conduct “Operation Guardian” multiple times each year as part of the city’s broader gun violence reduction strategy.
