FLORIDA — A worker at Orlando International Airport died following an incident Thursday evening, according to airport and airline officials.

In a statement released Friday, Delta Air Lines said one of its employees died while on the job at the airport on May 7.

“The Delta family is heartbroken at the loss of a team member while on the job at Orlando International Airport on the evening of May 7,” the airline said.

Officials have not released details about the incident or what caused the worker’s death.

Delta said it temporarily paused operations at the airport while cooperating with investigators. One flight was canceled, though the airline said affected passengers were accommodated on other flights.

“We are focused on extending our full support to family and taking care of our Orlando team during this difficult time,” Delta said. “We are working with local authorities as a full investigation gets underway to determine what occurred.”

Airport officials also expressed condolences in a statement Friday.

“The MCO community is deeply saddened about the loss of an airport staff member, and we send our condolences to his friends and family,” an airport spokesperson said.

No additional information has been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
