SOUTH CAROLINA — An Ohio woman faces multiple charges after allegedly leading police on a reckless chase that resulted in several crashes and injuries in Myrtle Beach over the weekend.
According to police, 34-year-old Danielle Lanae Custard of Cincinnati was arrested and charged with nine counts of hit and run, six counts of unlawful conduct toward a child, failure to stop for blue lights, reckless driving, unlawful passing and failure to give a proper turn signal.
The incident happened Saturday around 4:30 p.m. when officers attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving in the 1100 block of North Ocean Boulevard.
Police said the vehicle fled from officers, striking multiple vehicles before crashing in the 900 block of Kings Highway. One of the vehicles that was hit was pushed into a local business during the crash.
Authorities said Custard then tried to run from the scene on foot but was quickly taken into custody.
Three people were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries following the crashes.
Officials also said Custard had an outstanding fugitive from justice warrant at the time of her arrest.
Custard is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a bond totaling more than $100,000.
