MARYLAND — A Virginia woman is celebrating a $50,000 lottery win after purchasing a Maryland Lottery Bonus Match 5 ticket while visiting her father.
The woman, who is from Virginia’s Tidewater region, stopped at Lucky’s Superette, located at 1101 Odenton Road in Odenton, on June 12 and purchased a $2 Quick Pick Bonus Match 5 ticket before returning home.
After arriving back in Virginia, she checked the ticket and discovered that one of her three number combinations matched all five winning numbers, earning the game’s $50,000 top prize.
The winner said she was both nervous and excited when she realized she had won and immediately called her father to share the news.
A federal employee, she said she plans to use part of the winnings for a vacation while placing most of the prize money into savings.
Lucky’s Superette will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket.
