PENNSYLVANIA — More than 400 homes are without power Monday morning after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Jefferson County, according to officials.
The outage affected the Brookville area, according to a FirstEnergy outage map.
Authorities said the crash forced the Pine Creek Volunteer Fire Department to close Taylor Street for an extended period while crews respond to the scene.
Residents reported hearing loud “pop” sounds and experiencing flickering lights around the time of the outage, according to posts on the Jefferson County Fire Wire page. Some said their power briefly surged, while others lost electricity entirely.
FirstEnergy estimated power would be restored to the area by around 10 a.m.
The crash and resulting outage remain under investigation.
