VIRGINIA — A crash involving a tractor-trailer has closed both directions of Route 220 in Franklin County on Friday morning, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Route 220 southbound is closed in both lanes in the 19,000 block near Dugwell Pest Control and Iron Ridge Road due to a jackknifed tractor-trailer. The sheriff’s office shared the information in a social media post before 9 a.m. Friday.

Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes while emergency crews work to clear the scene safely.

Officials have not released information about injuries or fatalities related to the crash.

Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays as crews continue their response. The sheriff’s office said the closure remains in effect Friday morning.

This is a developing story. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
