NORTH CAROLINA — A man and a woman were found dead Thursday evening in what High Point police are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide at an apartment complex.
According to police, High Point 911 received a call requesting a welfare check on Julissa Duarte, 20, of High Point. The caller reported that Duarte had not been seen in several days and was not answering her phone.
Officers responded to Eastchester Ridge Apartments on Chester Ridge Drive. After receiving no response at the door, officers looked through a window and saw a person lying on the floor inside the apartment.
Police then forced entry into the residence and discovered Duarte and Kevin Sanchez, 22, of High Point, dead from gunshot wounds.
Investigators said they believe Sanchez shot and killed Duarte before turning the gun on himself.
Authorities have not released a motive in the case. However, police confirmed that Duarte and Sanchez had previously been in a dating relationship.
The investigation remains ongoing.
