INDIANA — Two people were killed and several others were injured in separate overnight shootings on the city’s near north and west sides, according to Indianapolis police.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were first dispatched just before midnight Sunday to a mobile home park near Rockville Road and South Lynhurst Drive on a report of shots fired. At the scene, police found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital by medics, where she later died.
Shortly after that incident, officers were called to a home in the 4000 block of North Park Avenue, near 38th Street and College Avenue, for another reported shooting.
Police initially located at least one victim at the Park Avenue scene. Authorities later said two additional victims arrived at IU Methodist Hospital with gunshot wounds connected to that incident. One of those victims later died.
Investigators have not confirmed the total number of people shot in the Park Avenue incident, nor have they released the identities or conditions of the victims.
A public information officer is expected to release additional details as the investigation continues. Police have not indicated whether the shootings are connected.
