GEORGIA — Two people were killed in a crash on Interstate 75 in Butts County on Friday evening, according to Butts County Coroner Lacey Prue.

The Georgia Department of Transportation’s 511 website showed the first reports of the crash came in around 3 p.m. Friday.

Prue said the coroner’s office has not yet released the identities of the victims because family members are still being notified.

According to Georgia 511, all northbound lanes of I-75 were shut down because of the crash and remained closed for more than two hours as crews responded to the scene and cleared the roadway.

No additional details about what caused the crash have been released.
