
TEXAS — Two people were killed early Sunday after a single-vehicle crash caused a car to burst into flames in Hurst, according to police.
Officers responded around 3:48 a.m. to reports of a major crash in the 200 block of northbound Loop 820, the Hurst Police Department said.
Investigators said callers reported that a vehicle had crashed into an embankment before catching fire. When officers arrived, they located the burning vehicle on the shoulder of the highway.
After firefighters extinguished the blaze, authorities discovered two people inside the vehicle. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
The identities of the victims have not been released.
Police have not said what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike the embankment. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
