FLORIDA — Two people were killed in a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian late Friday night in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 11:25 p.m. on State Road 60, west of Horton Road. A 20-year-old man from Plant City was driving a GMC Yukon westbound when a 50-year-old Plant City woman entered the roadway and walked into the path of the vehicle.
Authorities said the driver attempted to take evasive action but was unable to avoid the collision and struck the pedestrian.
Following the impact, the driver lost control of the SUV, which left the roadway and overturned. Investigators said the driver was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Both the driver and the pedestrian were pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
