GEORGIA — Two people have been arrested in connection with a fentanyl trafficking investigation that led to the seizure of a large quantity of drugs, according to the Columbus Police Department.
Police said the arrests followed a narcotics investigation conducted by the department’s Special Operations Unit, with assistance from the Georgia State Patrol. The investigation concluded on Wednesday, April 15.
During the operation, officers seized approximately 102.5 grams of fentanyl that was purple in color, along with 0.2 grams of methamphetamine.
Authorities identified the suspects as Brittany Stillwell, 32, and Tristan Long, 22. Both are facing multiple charges, including trafficking fentanyl, criminal conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug-related objects. Stillwell also faces an additional charge of crossing the guard line with illegal narcotics.
Police emphasized that the unusual purple color of the fentanyl highlights the dangers of illegal drugs, noting that such substances can appear in various colors and forms, sometimes designed to attract attention, including from children.
The Columbus Police Department is urging the public to remain cautious. Officials advise anyone who encounters an unknown or suspicious substance—particularly one that is brightly colored—not to touch it and to contact authorities immediately.
