FLORIDA — Authorities are investigating after a man and a dog were discovered inside a burned dumpster early Monday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officials with Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said crews responded to a reported dumpster fire at a business along Heckscher Drive just after midnight. After extinguishing the flames, firefighters found both the man and the dog inside the dumpster.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said detectives are currently reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses as part of the investigation.
Authorities added that there are no immediate signs of foul play. The investigation remains ongoing.
