Two people arrested following drug bust in Georgia

GEORGIA — Two women were arrested in Stephens County after a traffic stop led deputies to discover multiple bags of narcotics, according to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the stop occurred around 8 p.m. Wednesday on Old Liberty Hall Road after they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

During a search of the car, deputies found a purse belonging to the passenger, identified as 27-year-old Haley Davidson. Inside the purse, authorities located a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine and a pill believed to be oxycodone.

Investigators also searched a backpack belonging to the driver, identified as 21-year-old Gabrielle Martin. Deputies said the backpack contained two plastic bags of suspected methamphetamine, two plastic bags of suspected fentanyl, two plastic bags of suspected marijuana, and additional drug-related items with residue.

Both women were arrested and taken to the Stephens County Jail.

Davidson faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. She is also being held on a warrant from Banks County for a probation violation related to previous drug charges.

Martin is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession and use of drug-related objects, and three traffic-related offenses.

The case remains under investigation.
