One person arrested following large drug bust in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — A Windsor man is facing nearly 20 charges following a lengthy drug investigation in Bertie County, according to the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested 55-year-old Anthony Lassiter after a 16-month investigation into drug activity near Jack Branch Road, which began in January 2025.

Authorities said deputies executed a search at a home on Vance Lane, where several people were taken into custody.

During the search, investigators seized just under an ounce of cocaine, approximately 29 ounces of marijuana, two handguns, ammunition and $6,093 in cash.

Lassiter faces multiple charges, including six counts of maintaining a dwelling for the sale of cocaine, six counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.

He is also charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin, maintaining a dwelling for the sale of heroin, felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling for the sale of marijuana.

Lassiter was placed in jail under a $100,000 secured bond. Authorities said other individuals taken into custody at the home were later released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
