FLORIDA — Three people were injured late Monday after a chase involving a woman and her ex-boyfriend ended in a crash with an Osceola County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle, authorities said.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies received a 911 call shortly after 11 p.m. from a woman who reported that her ex-boyfriend was chasing her and shooting at her vehicle.
Investigators said both the suspect and the woman were traveling westbound on U.S. 192 near the sheriff’s office when the suspect rammed the woman’s vehicle. The impact forced her car into the eastbound lanes, directly into the path of a responding deputy’s patrol vehicle.
The crash occurred near the intersection of U.S. 192 and Oak Street.
Authorities said two people inside the victim’s vehicle had to be extricated from the wreckage. Both were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
The deputy involved in the crash was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect fled the scene following the crash but was later located and arrested at his residence in St. Cloud, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Florida Highway Patrol and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident.
No additional information was immediately released.
