Three people arrested following drug bust in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — A North Carolina man is facing drug-related charges after police said he attempted to destroy evidence by placing drug paraphernalia in his mouth and crushing it with his teeth during a traffic stop.

According to the Red Springs Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop as part of the Southeastern North Carolina Violent Crimes Task Force Operation. A vehicle search was conducted after a K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics.

During the search, officers said they found 85 oxycodone pills, a large amount of U.S. currency and other drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Police said three people inside the vehicle were arrested and transported to the Robeson County Detention Center.

Authorities identified one of the suspects as Bennie Henderson Jr. Police said Henderson attempted to destroy drug paraphernalia by placing it in his mouth and crushing it with his teeth. He was charged with drug-related offenses and received a $10,000 secured bond.

A second suspect, Lester Farrington, was also arrested on drug-related charges. He was given a $500,000 secured bond.

The third suspect, Glenda Callahan, was charged with conspiracy to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance. She received a $5,000 secured bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.
