
VIRGINIA — Nearly 2,500 customers across Virginia are currently without electricity Wednesday morning, according to PowerOutage.us.
As of the latest update, 2,491 homes and businesses statewide are experiencing active power outages. Virginia currently ranks ninth in the nation for the total number of outages and 11th nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.
Powhatan County has the highest number of outages in the state, with 1,341 customers currently without power. Orange County reported 190 outages, while Albemarle County had 108. Fairfax County reported 78 outages and Roanoke City had 65 Wednesday morning.
Among utility providers, Dominion Energy reported the largest number of outages with 1,949 customers affected statewide. Appalachian Power Company reported 357 outages, while Northern Neck Electric Cooperative reported 46.
Powhatan County is also the hardest-hit area in Virginia by percentage, with about 8.85% of tracked customers without electricity Wednesday morning.
Overall, about 0.06% of the more than 4 million customers tracked across Virginia are currently without power.
Utility crews continue working to restore service in affected areas across the state.
