Thousands without power in Texas

TEXAS — Nearly 3,000 homes and businesses across Texas are currently without electricity Tuesday morning, according to PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, 2,912 customers are without power statewide out of more than 15.4 million customers tracked. Texas currently ranks seventh in the nation for the total number of outages.

Rusk County reports the largest number of outages in the state, with 986 customers currently without service. Harris County follows with 465 outages, while Cameron County reports 300. Fort Bend County has 189 customers without power, and Parker County reports 161 outages.

Rusk County is also the hardest-hit county by percentage, with 4.22% of tracked customers currently affected by outages.

Among utility providers, Southwestern Electric Power Company reports the highest number of outages, with 988 customers without service. CenterPoint Energy has 737 customers affected, followed by Oncor with 461 outages and American Electric Power Texas with 345. Rio Grande Electric Cooperative reports 139 outages and has the highest outage percentage among major utilities, with 0.97% of its customers without power.

Statewide, approximately 0.02% of tracked customers are currently affected.

Utility crews continue working to restore service in impacted areas. Residents are encouraged to report outages directly to their electric provider and avoid downed power lines.

The outages are current as of Tuesday morning, and restoration efforts remain ongoing across Texas.
