
SOUTH CAROLINA — More than 8,600 customers across South Carolina are without electricity Thursday morning, according to PowerOutage.us.
As of the latest update, 8,631 customers statewide are currently without power out of more than 3 million tracked customers in South Carolina.
Pickens County is reporting the highest number of outages in the state, with 5,563 customers without electricity. Calhoun County has 1,143 outages, while Anderson County reported 686 customers without power.
Other counties with notable outages include Kershaw County with 331 outages, Richland County with 265 outages, Lexington County with 262 outages and Orangeburg County with 142 outages.
Blue Ridge Electric Coop reported the highest number of outages among South Carolina utilities, with 6,251 customers currently without service. Tri-County Electric Coop reported 1,769 outages, while Fairfield Electric Coop listed 337 customers without power.
PowerOutage.us said South Carolina currently ranks second in the nation for both the total number of outages and the percentage of customers affected.
Utility crews continue restoration efforts Thursday morning across the state.
