
OHIO — More than 16,000 utility customers across Ohio are without electricity Thursday morning as scattered outages continue across several parts of the state.
According to PowerOutage.us, 16,096 customers are currently without power, affecting about 0.29% of the more than 5.49 million customers tracked statewide.
Cuyahoga County is reporting the largest number of outages, with 5,499 customers without service. Lorain County follows with 3,370 outages, while Franklin County has 1,885 customers without power. Other counties reporting significant outages include Summit County with 1,587, Tuscarawas County with 1,130 and Columbiana County with 949.
Among utilities, FirstEnergy is reporting the largest number of customers without service, with 7,467 outages. Cleveland Public Power is reporting 4,413 outages and has the highest percentage of customers affected among major utilities at 5.99%. American Electric Power Ohio is reporting 4,137 customers without electricity.
Ohio currently ranks fifth in the nation for the total number of power outages and eighth for the percentage of customers affected, according to the outage tracking website.
Utility crews continue restoration efforts throughout the state. Residents are encouraged to report outages directly to their utility provider and avoid downed power lines, which should always be treated as energized and dangerous.
