Thousands without power in Ohio

OHIO — Ohio continues to experience thousands of power outages Friday morning, with nearly 9,000 homes and businesses currently without electricity across the state.

According to PowerOutage.us, 8,905 customers are without power statewide as of Friday morning. The outages affect approximately 0.16% of the more than 5.47 million customers tracked in Ohio.

Cuyahoga County is reporting the largest number of outages, with 6,811 customers currently without power. Stark County follows with 1,218 outages, while Summit County has 274 customers without electricity. Smaller outages are also being reported in Wayne, Portage, Allen, Mercer and Franklin counties.

Cleveland Public Power is reporting the largest utility-related outage in the state, with 6,775 customers without service, representing about 9.2% of its customer base. FirstEnergy reports 1,699 outages, while American Electric Power Ohio reports 280. AES Ohio and Duke Energy are also reporting smaller numbers of outages.

Ohio currently ranks second in the nation for the total number of power outages and seventh nationwide for the percentage of customers affected, according to PowerOutage.us.

Utility crews continue working to restore service to affected customers. Outage totals remain current and are subject to change as restoration efforts continue and new outages are reported.
