NORTH CAROLINA — Thousands of residents in the Piney Green area are without electricity following a pair of car crashes that damaged utility infrastructure Sunday morning.

According to the Jones-Onslow Electric Membership Corporation, approximately 2,600 members lost power after three utility poles were broken in two separate accidents.

Officials said repair crews were dispatched to the scene and are working to restore service as quickly as possible. No additional details about the crashes, including injuries or the circumstances leading up to them, have been released.

The outages remain under investigation, and officials say updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
