
IOWA — More than 4,700 homes and businesses across Iowa are without electricity Monday morning, according to statewide outage tracking data.
PowerOutage.us reported 4,722 customers without power statewide out of more than 1.58 million tracked customers.
Woodbury County reported the highest number of outages in Iowa Monday morning with 1,839 customers affected. Calhoun County followed closely behind with 1,619 outages. Other counties with notable outages included Delaware County with 209 customers without power, Cherokee County with 156 and Franklin County with 153.
MidAmerican Energy Company reported the most outages among utility providers with 3,156 customers without electricity. Woodbury County REC listed 957 outages, while Alliant Energy reported 420 customers without power.
According to the outage tracking website, Iowa currently ranks seventh in the nation for the total number of outages and fifth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.
Calhoun County reported one of the highest outage percentages in the state with more than 27% of tracked customers without electricity. Woodbury County REC also reported more than 27% of its customers affected Monday morning.
Residents are encouraged to report outages directly to their utility providers and stay away from downed power lines.
