Thousands without power in Florida

FLORIDA — More than 3,300 homes and businesses across Florida are currently without power Thursday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, 3,342 customers are without electricity statewide out of more than 10.9 million tracked customers, representing about 0.03% of the state.

Taylor County is reporting the highest number of outages, with 818 customers currently without power. Miami-Dade County follows with 553 outages, while Pinellas County has 419. Other counties reporting outages include Broward County with 200 customers affected and Dixie County with 176.

By utility provider, Florida Power & Light Company reports the highest number of outages, with 1,504 customers affected. Tri-County Electric Cooperative has 1,045 outages and Duke Energy reports 591. Smaller numbers are reported by Tampa Electric and Lakeland Electric.

Florida currently has the ninth-highest number of outages in the United States, though the percentage of customers affected remains relatively low.

Restoration efforts are ongoing, but no estimated timeline for full service restoration has been provided.
