LOUISIANA — Two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning in DeSoto Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers said the crash happened around 5:15 a.m. on June 11 on Louisiana Highway 5 near Cool Springs Road.
Investigators determined that Michael Haynes, 23, of Gladewater, Texas, was driving a 2008 Ford F-250 southbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the truck left the roadway, overturned and struck a tree.
Haynes and an unidentified passenger were not wearing seat belts and died at the scene, state police said.
Troopers said impairment has not been ruled out. Routine toxicology samples were collected and will be analyzed as part of the investigation.
The identity of the passenger has not been released pending notification of family members.
The crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police.
