
FLORIDA — Traffic came to a standstill Monday morning along Interstate 75 southbound after a semi-truck caught fire overnight, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the fire started around 2:30 a.m. near the State Road 44 exit. The truck was hauling a load of tomatoes when it caught fire.
The driver was able to escape the vehicle unharmed.
As of 9 a.m. Monday, heavy traffic delays and backups remained in the area as crews continued clearing the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
