Police seize large amount of fentanyl in Michigan in ongoing investigation

MICHIGAN — Michigan State Police seized nearly 8 pounds of fentanyl, 14 guns and $50,000 in cash during a large Metro Detroit drug bust tied to an ongoing fentanyl distribution investigation.

According to authorities, the Michigan State Police Metro Narcotics Enforcement Team executed eight search warrants Wednesday, May 20, in connection with the investigation spanning several Metro Detroit counties.

Police said investigators recovered 3,472 grams — about 7.6 pounds — of fentanyl, along with 75 grams of heroin. Authorities also seized 14 firearms, including four reported stolen guns, as well as three vehicles and approximately $50,000 in cash.

The operation involved assistance from the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration and law enforcement agencies from Monroe, Wayne, Livingston and Washtenaw counties.

Michigan State Police said the investigation remains ongoing. Additional details, including possible arrests or charges, were not immediately released.
