Police searching for person who stole $5,400 in copper cables from Indiana school

INDIANA — The MSD Wayne School Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of copper cables from a Wayne Township school.

According to police, the theft happened April 29 around 3 p.m. at the Wayne Township Pre-School located at 1155 S. High School Road.

Investigators said 12 copper cables, each measuring 50 feet long and valued at a total of $5,400, were stolen from the property.

Police said the suspect was seen leaving the area southbound toward West Morris Street and South High School Road in a brown or tan Chevrolet or GMC crew cab pickup truck with a sunroof.

The suspect was described as wearing glasses, having a white beard and a black earring in his left ear. He was also carrying a brown and green backpack.
