
MICHIGAN — A freeway shooting investigation closed a stretch of eastbound Interstate 94 in Detroit early Friday morning after a person arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds, according to Michigan State Police.
State police said the shooting occurred shortly before 2 a.m. Friday. Investigators learned of the incident after the victim arrived at a hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities said the victim’s vehicle had also been struck multiple times by gunfire.
Troopers shut down eastbound I-94 between Chalmers Street and Harper Avenue as detectives processed the scene and conducted their investigation.
As of shortly after 7 a.m., the eastbound lanes remained closed, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. Drivers were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes, with officials recommending motorists re-enter the freeway at Cadieux Road.
Authorities have not released information regarding a possible motive, suspect, or person of interest.
