ILLINOIS — A police pursuit that ended in a crash on Interstate 94 has caused significant traffic delays Saturday morning in Chicago, according to authorities.
Illinois State Police said troopers located a vehicle around 7:33 a.m. traveling southbound on I-94 near West 75th Street that was wanted in connection with an aggravated vehicular hijacking in Cicero earlier in the morning.
Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver fled, prompting a pursuit.
Authorities said the suspect vehicle later crashed into another car on southbound I-94 near 130th Street.
Two people fled from the suspect vehicle but were later taken into custody, police said.
One occupant of the vehicle that was struck was taken to a hospital with injuries. Their condition has not been released.
The crash has caused traffic to back up as far north as 115th Street, with delays of up to one hour reported on southbound I-94. Northbound traffic was also impacted as drivers slowed near the crash scene.
No additional information has been released.
