Part of I-83 in Pennsylvania shut down following vehicle crash

PENNSYLVANIA — A multi-vehicle crash shut down part of Interstate 83 in Dauphin County on Thursday morning, causing significant traffic delays.

According to 511PA, the crash happened around 6:20 a.m. on Interstate 83 southbound, about a half-mile north of Exit 44B for 17th Street.

Traffic cameras showed emergency crews responding at the scene as vehicles merged into the right lane around the crash site.

Authorities said the crash caused lane restrictions and the roadway is currently closed while crews continue working at the scene.

Officials have not released information about injuries or what caused the crash.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and expect residual delays as the investigation continues.
