Part of I-77 in Ohio shut down following vehicle crash

OHIO — Interstate 77 northbound is currently closed in Summit County following a crash that brought traffic to a standstill Thursday afternoon.

According to traffic officials, the crash occurred on I-77 North near Ghent Road. The Ohio Department of Transportation’s OHGO traffic system showed significant backups in the area shortly before 4 p.m.

Authorities have not released details about what caused the crash, and it was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as emergency crews respond to the scene and work to clear the roadway.

The northbound lanes remain closed, and traffic delays continue to build during the evening rush hour.
