Part of I-65 in Indiana shut down following vehicle crash

INDIANA — Two lanes of Interstate 65 northbound near Whitestown are closed Thursday morning following a crash involving two semi trucks.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, the crash was reported around 6:50 a.m. on Thursday. The agency said the two right lanes of I-65 northbound will remain closed for several hours while crews work to clear the scene.

Photos released from the crash scene showed one semi truck with severe damage to the front of the cab and trailer. A second semi sustained damage to a rear wheel and its flat-bed trailer. Cargo being hauled on the flat-bed trailer was also damaged.

INDOT did not release information about possible injuries or provide an estimated time for the highway to fully reopen.

Indiana State Police have not yet released additional details about the crash.
