KENTUCKY — Interstate 264 eastbound remains closed at the Interstate 71 split in Louisville after a semitruck crashed into a barrier on the ramp Wednesday morning.
Emergency officials said fire crews and additional public safety personnel responded to the crash on I-264 eastbound near the interchange shortly before 9 a.m. The incident involved a semitruck that struck a barrier, causing significant traffic backups in the area.
Officials said crews are working on hazard mitigation efforts, including containing fluids spilled during the crash.
Authorities have not released information about injuries associated with the crash.
There is currently no estimated time for when the roadway will reopen. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes while emergency crews continue their work at the scene.
The closure is affecting traffic along the Watterson Expressway near the I-71 interchange, with delays reported in the surrounding area.
