Over $2.5 million worth of illegal drugs seized in Virginia

VIRGINIA — Virginia State Police seized more than $2.5 million worth of illegal drugs during a weeklong crime suppression operation conducted with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, according to authorities.

The operation took place from Wednesday, April 29, through Tuesday, May 5, and resulted in the seizure of more than 100 pounds of marijuana and five firearms, police said.

Authorities reported the following narcotics were recovered during the initiative:

  • 35.1 pounds of cocaine
  • 2.4 ounces of crack cocaine
  • 105 pounds of marijuana
  • 1.6 pounds of fentanyl
  • 8.1 pounds of methamphetamine

Virginia State Police said the estimated value of the seized narcotics exceeded $2.5 million.

“The Virginia State Police remain steadfast in their mission to enhance public safety and uphold the laws throughout the Commonwealth while supporting the Governor’s initiatives on violent crime,” police said in a May 8 press release. “By working in close collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, law enforcement continues to disrupt criminal enterprises and safeguard communities.”
