KANSAS — A motorcycle rider was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Monday evening in Brown County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported around 6:15 p.m. near 270th Street and Dewberry Road, about two miles south of Morrill.
Troopers said a 2003 Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide motorcycle pulled out of a driveway and was traveling east on 270th Street when, for unknown reasons, the rider lost control. The motorcycle came to rest on its right side in the roadway.
The rider, identified as 59-year-old Michael Dyke of Hiawatha, was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka with serious injuries.
Authorities said Dyke was the only person on the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
