One person injured following shooting incident in Virginia

VIRGINIA — A man was hospitalized after an overnight shooting in Lynchburg, and police are continuing to search for the suspect, according to authorities.

The Lynchburg Police Department said officers responded around 1 a.m. Wednesday to the 2500 block of Memorial Avenue for a reported shooting.

Investigators said a man was injured by gunfire and taken to a hospital for treatment. Officials have not released information about the victim’s condition.

Police said details about the shooting remain limited as investigators work to determine exactly what happened and identify the suspect involved.

Around 7:30 a.m., officers, including a SWAT team, responded to a townhome area off Tenbury Drive in connection with the investigation. Authorities said they were attempting to get a possible suspect to come out of a residence.

Police said no arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.

Investigators also said there is no known threat to the public at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
