VIRGINIA — Police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured Monday evening in Hampton.
Officers were called around 7:05 p.m. to the first block of West Mercury Boulevard for reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found an adult victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators said the victim had been standing with a group of people when one or more suspects approached on foot and opened fire. The suspect or suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
No suspect information has been released.
